Oxlade-Chamberlain Rejects Chelsea, Wants Liverpool
Oxlade-Chamberlain Rejects Chelsea despite 40 million bid
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected a move to London rivals Chelsea, with Liverpool being his preferred destination.
The versatile player feels he has better chances of playing in his preferred midfield position if he moves to Liverpool.
He has been subject to interest from few sides during this transfer window, with Chelsea and Liverpool at the forefront.
Arsenal seem to have given up on their stance of not selling him by negotiating with Chelsea and agreeing a £40 million deal with the blues, but the player has been reluctant in going for a medical.
The 24 year old is currently with Gareth Southgate’s squad ahead of their world cup qualifier against Malta on Friday.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have shifted interest to Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
Monaco rejected a 70 million bid for the midfielder yesterday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of at least four players Chelsea hope to sign before the transfer window closes, the others being Fernando Llorente, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley.
Chelsea look closest to sign Fernando Llorente in a deal that could reach £15 million.
Llorente has told friends that he is close to joining Chelsea, while Drinkwater has handed a transfer request to Leicester.
