France 4 – 0 Netherlands: Lemar Stars for Les Bleus
Thomas Lemar was the star of the show as France trashed Netherlands 4-0.
The Monaco midfielder scored a wondergoal and added another as France cruised to the top of Group A.
Antoine Griezmann opened scoring in the 14th minute, as France dominated the first half.
It got worse for Netherlands when Kevin Strootman was sent off for a second bookable offense just after the hour mark.
From then, it was a stroll for France who hit three more goals, with Lemar scoring twice before substitute Kylian Mbappe finished the game late on.
The win puts France in pole position to qualify from group A after Sweden lost 3-2 to Bulgaria.
Olivier Giroud combined well with Griezmann, before the latter slot the ball through Jasper Cillessen.
France continued to dominate, but failed to find a breakthrough as the first half ended at 1-0.
In the second half, Dutch boss Advocaat brought on Vilhena as he looked to tighten up things in midfield.
However, On 61 minutes, Kevin Strootman got sent off, after receiving two yellow cards in the space of 6 minutes.
Robin Van Persie was introduced for the ineffective Victor Janssen.
Then Paul Pogba missed a glorious chance, after racing through, he opted to shoot rather than pass and was stopped.
Thomas then Lemar scored with a well struck left-footed volley from outside the box.
Then Antoine Griezmann unselfishly setup Lemar to tap in his second of the night.
Kylian Mbappe finished off Netherlands late-on after coming on from the bench.
Lemar and Mbappe Transfer Speculation
Prior to kick-off, Monaco had received two bids from Liverpool and Arsenal to sign Lemar, while Mbappe just concluded his Loan move to PSG from Monaco.
Even this did not stop France from victory as both players justified their inclusion as well as interest from various clubs with vital goals.
