Cameroon 1 – 1 Nigeria: Aboubakar Penalty Secures Draw
Vincent Aboubakar came from the bench to equalize for Cameroon via a penalty in the 75th minute.
Nigeria had taken the lead in the first half through Moses Simon but Aboubakar scored to ensure that Nigeria had to wait longer to secure a ticket to Russia.
Nigeria won the first leg 4-0 in dominant fashion, but Cameroon ensured that the feat was not repeated at the Ahmadu Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

Nigeria Lead At Half-Time
However, Cameroon started brightly, but Ikechukwu Ezenwa was able to keep the ball out.
Then Victor Moses set-piece effort was stopped by Banana Yaya.
The game continued with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances until the 30th minute.
Victor Moses ran into the box and his effort deflected kindly to Moses Simon who finished into the back of the net.
Then Odion Ighalo came close, after Moses beat his marker with some fine skill, he released Odion Ighalo who also beat his marker before smashing a left-footed effort over the bar.
The first half finished with the Super Eagles in front.
Cameroon Equalize in the Second Half
In the second half, Cameroon attacked in their quest to find a way back but Nigeria’s defense was equal to the task.
Victor Moses almost doubled the lead, when he dribbled three Cameroonian defenders in the box before sending his effort off the bar.
Hugo Bross then introduced Vincent Aboubakar and Christian Bassagog and it was the former who got the equalizer.
Ikechukwu Ezenwa hit Arnaud Djoum instead of the ball and the referee pointed to the spot.
Vincent Aboubakar stepped up to send the penalty into the middle of the net.
Then Ezenwa atoned for his mistake with a fine double save, denying first Sianni and immediately after Collins Fai.
His attempt to stop Fai caused a bit of a scare as he stayed down, before medics attended to him.
Then the referee waved off what might have been a penalty when Balogun fell Aboubakar in the box.
Nigeria held on to the draw, but Cameroon are certain to miss out of next year’s event.
